Chiropractic and Extremity Adjustments
All joints are susceptible to rigidity, especially when soft tissue injury induces the body to protect the area by restricting range of motion. Though spinal adjustments are most generally applicable to increasing flexibility in the back, studies have also shown a decrease in muscle tension and pain of the surrounding tissues.
Linking office and home care with prescribed exercises reduces recovery time and costs while strengthening the body to avoid repeated issues. As part of your treatment, Dr. Eddie will teach you simple movements that you can practice on your own, from ball or foam rolling to yoga poses ro balance, stability and strengthening tactics, cultivating proper posture and correction of strain.
Advanced Muscle Reconditioning (AMR)
This hands-on technique effectively reduces muscle spasm and adhesion. Light but sometimes painful strokes across muscle fibers against the grain, having a deep effect despite the shallow depth of contact. It is beautiful for its simplicity and powerful results; truly reconditioning your taut muscle “knots” into relaxation by decreasing pain and increasing range of motion in muscles and joints.
Active Release Technique (ART)
A movement-based style of deep massage patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system that allows access to more than three hundred muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and nerves. ART simultaneously diagnoses and treats overused musculature, evaluating texture, tightness and range of motion before combining directed pressure with selections from more than five hundred prescribed patient movements.
When healing hands need added impact, Graston Technique breaks down scar tissue and fascia traps with stainless steel instruments that help him detect and correct fibrosis and chronic inflammation. Developed by athletes, Graston or (IASTM Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage) is applied by more than thirteen thousand clinicians worldwide for its ability to relieve conditions thought to be permanent through a succinct course of treatment.
Kinesio/ Athletic Taping can be used to treat sports and non-sports injuries, including shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner’s knee and back pain. Rather than immobilizing joints like traditional sports tape, Kinesio tape secures the surrounding muscle by microscopically lifting the skin, promoting circulation while re-educating the neuromuscular system, creating a decompressive effect.
Treatment Hours: 3pm -6:30pm every Wednesday
Meet the doctor
Dr. Espinoza (Eddie), is a Bay Area native that has been practicing sports chiropractic for the past 3 years. With a gymnastics background from his childhood, he became interested in trying Crossfit about the same time he started his chiropractic practice and instantly fell in love. About a year and a half ago, he moved his practice from San Ramon to Berkeley to pursue a more sports focused clinic and patient base. This was also the start of joining the Grassroots family at it’s Berkeley location. Working with everyday athletes is why he pursued this profession making this opportunity a perfect collaboration and setting.
